“We knew we were going to need some help working with our high energy guy the second we brought him home. Not just to help Vader, but to help us learn how to handle that stubborn energy as well. Mazzy spent just a little more than an hour with us and Vader at our consultation visit, by the end she had ideas for things we could start working on right away at home and a game plan for things she wanted to do for Vader. By the time she left we felt excited and that we had found the right person.
Boy. Did. We!!
Working with Mazzy has been a wonderful experience!! She is patient, knowledgeable and so engaging with Vader. Our boy has come leaps and bounds since we first started, from his personality and confidence, to just being able to be calm and relax. We look forward to continuing working with Mazzy whether for refresher visits, advanced obedience, or even some fun trick training.” - Kiera & Shea / Vader
“My partner Athena and I got our two year old border collie squee as a rescue a little over a year ago. Though we could tell he had the desire to be a good boy, he often struggled to understand what we wanted him to do and his anxious behaviours got him regularly riled and unresponsive to commands. It became problematic enough for us to reach out for help when he began to bite out of fear and protective instinct, and for that help we went to Mazzy at Co-Evolved Companion.
What Mazzy gave us was a better understanding of our dog, how to communicate with him, and meet his needs. They made us better dog owners this way, and in turn our boy Squee is now much improved. He may still get anxious, but we are more than able to calm him down, we know how to issue commands in a way that he will listen, and both we and Squee are much happier for it. I am very thankful to Mazzy for their communication and compassion forward training and the results we have seen with our now best of boys.” - Joni & Athena / Squee
“I met Mazzy several years ago, when I first got my yorkie-mix, Osito. Mazzy was an incredible trainer with both him (and I!), helping us develop better tools for communication. It truly transformed our relationship and opened up my eyes to new ways of guiding Osito. He's turned into a true adventure pup with a sassy, sensitive side and over the years I've continued to work with Mazzy both for refresher trainings and they've watched Osito when I've been on travels. He's developed a very sweet relationship with not only Mazzy, but also their dog pack!
This year I decided to get another puppy and immediately called Mazzy to see if they'd be available for training - and to get their thoughts/ideas/expertise on introducing a new puppy to Osito. They've since helped me start training my new pup, Gus Gus, which has been amazing - it's like seeing them work with two generations of my pups. I've since referred Mazzy out to several friends and family members, who've also had nothing but wonderful things to say about how they show up to do their work.
I have such admiration and appreciation for Mazzy, their approach to animals, their philosophy on training, and their love and passion for supporting the connection between dogs and human. There is also noone I would trust more to watch my little dog pack. “ - Sarah Jane / Osito & Gus Gus
“I first met Mazzy when looking for a sitter for my greyhound Shai. This was the first time Shai had ever been left with someone who was not close to him daily. Within 10 minutes of dropping Shai off, all
concerns were dropped. Mazzy sent a video of Shai running around and playing, something I honestly
had only seen except with those who were very close to him. When Shai was diagnosed with bone cancer, Mazzy asked to come see him more than once and showered him with love and sympathy and as import, me with empathy. Mazzy’s absolute love and seeming immediate connection with Shai meant the world to myself and everyone directly involved with him.
A few months later I adopted another ex-race greyhound, Macaroni. When I adopted Mac, I was told
that he has a degenerative eye disease called PRA and would go blind within the next few years. I
immediately reached out to Mazzy to discuss getting some training for both Mac and I to prepare for the inevitable and make that transition as smooth as possible for both of us. Mac is also suffering from some intense PTSD from his race days and space guards making him unapproachable when lying down.
Mazzy has been working with Mac for a little over two months and he has made leaps of improvement.
Mac has shown improvement both on and off leash and now recalls almost every time he is called :-)
Mac is approachable when lying down and at times even allows pets. More important, he is more
confident in giving me signs to let me know when he does not want to be touched, which is so
much better than just snapping. Mazzy has been extremely good with me in explaining when and
why we are doing positive reinforcement and correcting, making me feel more comfortable that
Mac is comfortable. Mac has also shown massive improvement in his social interactions with
other dogs, to honestly stunning levels.
I am confident that as Mac’s sight decreases and eventually is nonexistent, that Mazzy will help
both of us with the tools to be sure Mac has the greatest life a greyhound can have!” - Robert / Shai & Macaroni
